I watched "Phantom:Requiem for the Phantom," quite a while ago, and it quickly became one of my favorite anime's. The main female character, Ein, immediately grabbed my attention for the anime. Her mysterious nature caused me to become very curious, and I wanted to know her character. As for the main male character, Zwei, I didn't necessarily like him. I found him to be extremely whiny and cowardly at first, which was partially due to his voice actor. Fortunately, through out the anime, his character became stronger, tougher, and less of a damsel-in-distress type male.
I really liked that there was already some good action in the first episode, and I was very happy with the way Ein was introduced. The fact that Zwei, didn't kill Ein when he saw her face, showed that he had good character. Though that was quickly changed when he was entered into the world of assassins. I thought it was extremely cute how Ein's mask fell off, and she just laid there adorably!
As the anime advanced, Zwei and Ein's relationship became more and more stronger. I at first didn't like it, because as I mentioned, I didn't like Zwei at first. But I grew new respect for him, when he rescued an injured Ein and protected her. Since she was brainwashed, he gave her a new name that she could start over with(I found it adorable), and the name was "Eren." I wasn't impressed with the name, but I didn't hate it so it was okay.
Unfortunately, "Eren," did not last long. When Ein went back with Scythe master, and Zwei with the inferno, I must admit..... I WAS HEARTBROKEN!!! Since Scythe, was now an enemy of the inferno, they went to war. Ein and Zwei were on opposite sides of this miniature battle. When Zwei fired a shot at Scythe, Ein, was quick to run in front of the bullet and take the blow to her chest. She then fell into the water, deemed to be dead........ I cried when that happened!!! It was very sad...
A while after the loss of Ein, Zwei became the new top assassin, earning him the title "Phantom"(the title Ein preciously had). He had become Claudias sex buddy(from what I gathered), and very... Well... Shallow. One day, while investigating a murder that inferno was being blamed for, he came across a girl named Cal, who was practically raised up by the victim. Zwei took the hot headed girl in, and became a fatherly type person towards her. All seemed well...
I liked Cal a lot at first, she was easy to relate to.. She was a very hurt character, the "just wants to be loved" type you know? She was very cute, and somehow seemed innocent, despite her personality.
When Zwei had a mission, and left Cal at the apartment, he saw that the mission was already done by someone else. He was shocked, wondering who had done it.. When he walked out of the room, he saw a closing elevator, with none other than the believed-to-be-dead, Ein, standing in it. She had exited the building before he had to chance to confront her. That sent me into insane mode, I was just like "WHAT?!? STALK HER DAMNIT!!!" He later saw her again on the train, and I am just paraphrasing but I think he said; "Eren, stop working for Scythe, come with me! We can run away together." and she said something like, "We wont make it. And I told you before. My name is not Eren. My name is Ein." Which her saying that, was symbolic, that she was returning to her assassin self. Her sin filled name.
The third time they meet, Ein has been ordered to kill him. Shit was gonna go down!! She begins Attacking him and Zwei, ends up surrendering, telling her that he didn't want to fight her, and to just kill him. She begins crying, and telling him how important to her he is, and they make up and you would think it's a happy ending by then! I thought it would be.. But No~~~~~ they wanted it all depressing. More than it already was!
Zwei returned home to get cal, so that the three of them could run away together, then BAM!!!! Big fire in his apartment, and he was under the impression she had died.. But she didn't.. She returned to the burnt down apartment when the fire was out, and waiting in tears for Zwei's return. Scythe took the opportunity, and took the betrayed feeling Cal, to be the next phantom. her goal became revenge, revenge to kill Zwei...
Ein, returned to the name she was given by Zwei, and Zwei, returned to his real name, Reiji. So they went by Reiji, and Eren. They moved to a small town, and acted to be siblings, to enroll in highschool. they were finally getting the normal life that they had been taken away from. But soon, their happiness was interrupted by cal's return...'
Cal returned as a grown women, looking FRACKING HOT!!! They knew she planned to kill them, and la de da....
Allow me to skip over these boring details, that I was unimpressed by and skip to the action. Eren(Ein), was in a church repenting when Cal busts in with her big boobs and they both have a gun pointed at eachother. Then Reiji(Zwei), comes into the church, and points his gun at Cal. Cal would have shot Ein anyways, if Lizzie didn't come in and get her out of there.
Now allow me to get you to the anime's absolute climax~

Ein tells Zwei, to go on and fight Cal, while she waits outside the building, with her gun, prepared to fight Scythe, and the assassins he brought along.
Zwei and Cal begin their fight, and in the end, Zwei shoots Cal. Cal tells him about what had happened, and Zwei bursts into tears holding the dying Cal in his arms...
This is going to sound really bitchy...
DIE CAL! HURRY UP!!! DIIEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

mean while... Ein is being a bad ass.. Allow me to give you some pictures to explain it:
Ouch.. That was a pretty good kick, looks like the bitch's neck snapped huh? Well she fights scythe and kills his sorry ass, if that explains it well enough? She then bursts into tears and Reiji embraces her.
The rest of the anime is just like five minutes, and those five minutes I found to be confusing. So I will stop it here. :)
